Sleepy

I like my job, but admittedly I'm getting tired of working all day and then staying up until after 11:30 PM working more.

I'll be really happy when this week is over, and things calm down a bit.

omgz

It's official now. I am going to Prague.

I will be there for 1.5-2 months. After 30 days I will decide whether or not I want to make the move there.

I am really, really excited. For personal reasons, because I haven't been to Prague yet. And for professional reasons, because this is a new team and I really hope I can have a positive impact on them. I really want this to be a success in every sense.

Adios, Pittsburgh.

I guess...

...I'm going to Prague.

I didn't know it was official or announced, but a few of my colleagues in our Prague office told me yesterday, "We hear you're coming to Prague!"

I'll get more details of when I'm going next week. And for how long...well that's up to me to decide.

Soap scum

There's a commercial about Dove soap showing what's left on your skin from other soaps. It was kind of gross at first, until I read the fine print and saw that 1) it is an "artist's rendition", 2) it is a dramatization, and 3) this is what happens to your skin only if you're showering in hard water.

That's good to know, because I like the soap from Costco.

In other news, I had lunch with my dad today. It was nice. His stories make me happy, but they also worry me sometimes. At what age is it that parents start to seem like children to us, and we feel like we have to protect them? What happened to the days when I felt like I needed him to protect me?

We're going to make mansaf this weekend. I am going to invite Maira.

Solid as Barack

Today, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. At work, everybody was sitting around watching it. The bistro was full of people, but it was silent. If people had something to say, they whispered.

I sat there, sipping my vegetable barley soup, enjoying the goosebumps that his speech gave me.

Also, I think I get to have lunch with my dad tomorrow.

And I'm watching a rerun of The Office.

I'm going to bed a very happy girl.

First Entry

I don't know what this blog is going to be about yet. I figure I should have a first entry, though, to mark the day that I created it, so here are a few things that are going on right now.

- What's happening in Gaza right now is killing me on the inside, and killing a lot of Palestinians... literally.
- The Steelers are going to the Superbowl.
- Maira is really excited to read this.
- I am eagerly awaiting 5:00 PM so I can go get a haircut.
- I am more eagerly awaiting seeing my dad, who just got back from Iraq this weekend. For a visit, not for good.

I think that's it for now. Once I think up a theme I will write more.
